What happens to skin when you have a sunburn?

We all love soaking up some sun on a beautiful day, but sometimes we can get a little too much of a good thing. Sunburns are a common consequence of spending too much time in the sun without proper protection. But have you ever wondered what actually happens to your skin when you have a sunburn?

When your skin is exposed to the sun, it absorbs ultraviolet (UV) rays that can damage your skin cells. Your body's first line of defense is to produce melanin, a pigment that gives your skin its color and helps protect it from UV radiation. This is what causes your skin to tan. However, if you're exposed to too much UV radiation, your skin may not be able to produce enough melanin to protect itself.

When your skin is exposed to too much UV radiation, it becomes inflamed, which leads to the redness, pain, and tenderness of a sunburn. Your body also sends extra blood to the affected area to help repair the damage, which can make your skin feel warm to the touch. The damaged skin cells may also release chemicals that can cause itching and peeling.

If you have a severe sunburn, you may experience other symptoms like nausea, dizziness, and fever. This is because your body is working hard to repair the damage and fight off any potential infections.

It's important to take sunburns seriously and take steps to prevent them from happening in the first place. The results show that sunscreen product with 3%* of Sokörpe’s Super Boost™ 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid can significantly enhance the ability of UV protection (L* value +24.08%, a* value -27-96%), suggesting that Sokörpe’s Super Boost™ 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, as a topical antioxidant supplement can help improve the performance of sunscreen products
