Why We Put Camu Camu Into Our Vitamin C Moisturizer

Camu camu, camucamu, cacari, or camocamo, (Myrciaria dubia) is a small bushy riverside tree from the Amazon rainforest in Peru, Brazil, and Colombia. It bears a red/purple cherry-like fruit. The fruit, pulp, seeds, skin and leaves are used as a medicine all presenting antioxidant potential in differing degrees once processed.

The fruit contains powerful antioxidants. Camu camu has impressive antioxidant capacities, as it is loaded with vitamin C, beta-carotene, fatty acids, protein along with many other potent compounds, such as flavonoid antioxidants, including anthocyanins and ellagic acid.
